GNU/Linux Distributions

Here are quite a few articles I have written covering different GNU/Linux Distributions. I will eventually add more up-to-date content here in the near future.

Overview Articles

Fedora, Mandrake & Suse Distro Comparison - July 2004 - A good overview of these Distros I did a few years ago.

Debian GNU/Linux

Gentoo Linux

I mainly use Gentoo Linux as a testbed for various projects I work on, such as Building Packages or figuring out how the Gentoo Developers accomplish things. Gentoo is great at this and is a great way to learn more about GNU/Linux machines operate.

An In-Depth Look at Gentoo Linux - April 2010 - This was originally posted at Kernel News and I incorporated information from the articles below to create this guide.

Installing Gentoo Linux Desktops - This is a guide I wrote a while back to ensure that I could quickly deploy Gentoo Linux onto a machine.

Making Sense of Gentoo's USE Flags - I wrote this guide to refresh my memory on how I found an easy way to manage Gentoo's USE Flags.

Installing Mandrakelinux 10.1 as a Firewall - Step-by-Step instructions for configuring Mandrake 10.1 as a Firewall using their Mandrake Network Firewall packages. This is quite a bit dated and if you are looking for a very good firewall I recommend looking at my NIMA Virtual Machine Packages.

Fedora, Mandrake & Suse Distro Comparison - July 2004 - A good overview of these Distros I did a few years ago.

Novell's *SUSE Linux
